THE LARGER TREND
Malaysia’s Ministry of Health is currently pushing for reforms to its healthcare system through digital transformation. A key initiative is the implementation of a national EMR system to realise its vision of “one individual, one record.”
The government piloted the national EMR project in 2021; this is expected to be completed next year. A full rollout of the national EMR system is targeted for 2026.
Last year in January, theMalaysia Healthcare Travel Council, which is responsible for increasing the country’s medical tourism, began working with HIMSS to promote the digital transformation of hospitals and health facilities nationwide.
