When I returned home from a recent trip to Cartagena, I had two problems: one, I needed to figure out how to uproot my life to permanently lounge seaside in South America and two: my hair needed serious TLC. Colombia’s humidity turned my somewhat smooth strands into chaos. Being that close to the equator, I was never not sweaty, which resulted in multiple showers a day. Add in the harshness of dips in pools and Caribbean swim sessions too. Not to mention the repeated heat styling trying to wrangle my locks into cute looks for nights out on the town…

My strands were screaming for help. They needed moisture—stat. My hair looked dry, lifeless, and a month (or two) overdue for a trim.
Beauty Pie to the rescue. I kept my fingers crossed that a few key Beauty Pie products, which feature high-end formulas with drugstore prices, lived up to the hype. Spoiler: they did.
What is Beauty Pie?
Beauty Pie is a membership-based beauty and skincare brand launched in 2016 by Marcia Kilgore, who also founded brands like Bliss and Soap & Glory. By selling directly to consumers, Beauty Pie can sell high-quality products for a fraction of the traditional retail price. Think of it as a luxury treasure chest, minus the hefty costs, with a wide range of products including skincare, makeup, haircare, all at significantly reduced prices.
How Does Beauty Pie Work?
You can buy products via Beauty Pie whether you’re a member or not. Membership, which can be purchased monthly or annually, offers the best product prices though—close to the cost of production and all sourced from the world’s best labs. An annual membership is billed $59 once a year, and monthly memberships cost $10 each month.
Does Beauty Pie Have Dupes?
Beauty Pie doesn’t explicitly offer direct dupes, but their products are on par with similar expensive alternatives. They source products from the same world-class labs and manufacturers that well-known luxury brands do, and are transparent about the typical retail price of a similar product. So while their products aren’t exact copies, similar formulation will give you the same results—all for a significantly reduced price.
My Honest Beauty Pie Haircare Review
As a beauty writer, I’m lucky enough to regularly try elite (*ahem,* expensive) haircare products. Some are worth the extra bucks, but many are not. I can confidently say Beauty Pie easily rivals brands that cost quadruple the price. Beauty Pie gives them a serious run for their money, literally and figuratively.
I tried reviving my lifeless hair with three Beauty Pie products: the Ultra-Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner Duo for Very Dry Hair and the Super Healthy Hair Always On Leave-In Conditioning Treatment. This trio is ideal for all hair types, but especially dry, coarse, or processed hair—any locks that could benefit from extra hydration. They’re all packed with nourishing ingredients that restore softness while strengthening strands.

Within a single wash my hair felt smoother and silkier. Perhaps that’s due to the shampoo’s impressive ingredients, like sweet almond extract seed, which revitalizes hair with shine. Or maybe it’s thanks to the avocado oil, which nourishes strands with Omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. The lustreplex shine enhancer can’t hurt either. That fights frizz while detangling and adding shine without build up.
Beauty Pie Super Healthy Hair Always On Leave-In Conditioning Treatment

I’m prone to oiliness, barely making it to day two without looking too greasy. Some shampoos seem to make that worse, clinging to the oil instead of washing it away. That’s not the case with Beauty Pie. My hair looked refreshed and clean (no residue!), but most importantly felt healthy, packed with nutrients it so craved.
The conditioner is lightweight but hyper hydrating, the ideal balance for my long, fine hair. It includes a plant keratin blend, which helps hair look healthier and stronger, as well as hyaluronic acid to hydrate. The conditioner comes in a tub, which does take up more precious real estate in my shower, but it’s worth it.
After washing and conditioning, I spritzed on the leave-in conditioner, which Beauty Pie calls a “day lotion” for your hair. Some leave-in conditioners can weigh down my thin hair, but this option was equally light and luxe. The moisturizing formula is packed with keratin and a blend of Vitamins B5, C, and E—the cherry on top of my livened locks, and all for a fraction of the traditional retail price.
I’m pretty scent-sensitive, so I was relieved upon first use to sniff the lovely, subtle almond fragrance. It smells natural, and I was delighted to get occasional whiffs of it lingering on my hair throughout the day.
Both my revived hair and I are newfound Beauty Pie believers. Who knows, maybe I can push out my next trim another month or two.
